Funerals & Memorials

A funeral marks a significant event – the end of a unique life. It is a time to express your grief and mourning, honour a life and say a last goodbye. Whether you want a secular, spiritual or part-religious service I will put your ideas and desires at the heart of what I do. Each funeral is specifically designed to reflect the beliefs, values and personality of the person who has died.

To lose someone you care about can be a bewildering experience. It is often hard to think about the funeral and how best to reflect the life of the person who has died. I will support you at this difficult time and help you make the choices that are right for you and your loved one. Working with you and your funeral director I will design a fitting, personal and meaningful ceremony.

I visit you in your own home, hear about the person who has died and listen sensitively to what you would like. I can help you express your thoughts and feelings through words, readings, poetry, music and flowers as well as create rituals that have meaning for you.

I may suggest ways to make a crematorium funeral feel more personal and special or help you find other places to hold the ceremony.

I will support you to be as involved as you wish. I can design and lead the whole ceremony, prepare and read the eulogy, support you to deliver your own tribute or simply give advice and ideas if you want to conduct the funeral yourselves.

I am also able to assist you with memorial services or the scattering of ashes.

A funeral is a sad occasion but also a time for support, comfort, and reflection where you can begin the process of coming to terms with your loss. A funeral with heart and soul recognises the importance of the person who has died and is both a final gift and a fitting farewell.

If you would like to talk about or plan your own funeral I can also help with this. It can be very useful for family and friends to have a guide to your wishes when the time comes.

“Thank you very much for the way you conducted the service to celebrate our son Neil’s life at his funeral…Several people asked if you knew Neil because it came across so well, another person said it was the best funeral she’d ever been to…A lot of the content was our own but your warmth and sincerity stood out…My cousin said: ‘there was love, emotion and we felt we were part of a special tribute, rather than the sad occasion that it was’. We are pleased that we were able to give him such a good send off, due in no small part to yourself.”
